Fitness Hacks For Lazy Girls/ Sports Lazy Girls Need To Get Into

Working out doesn’t have to feel like working out with these 6 Easy sports that anyone at any level can get into. Whether you are super coordinated or not getting active in these things will burn tons of calories without realizing it.

Getting into the gym is so much funner and beneficial when you are working toward being better at your sport!

The following don’t require a team or rigorous training schedule. These can be done on your own or even with kids coming along.

The key is making a plan to be active in your new sport, as well as making goals to improve at it. Not only is it fun to participate but progressing is extremely rewarding.

White Water Rafting

Whitewater rafting can be as adventurous or calm as you want it. If you’ve never been, find a commercially guided trip near you. They can show you the basics as well as do most of the work for you.

Sunbathing and getting splashed with cold water is my kind of sport.

After you fall in love with the river and the peace it provides you will be motivated to get back to it. There aren’t many expenses involved after you are all geared up with your own raft or inflatable kayak. (Which is a bit of an investment).

Must Have: River Sandals

In the gym, improve this sport:

  • Get on the rowing machine- It’s not exactly the same motion, the river does most of the work
  • Free weights for shoulders and Back- Most of the work is carrying, lifting and loading gear.

How calories are burned whitewater rafting:

  • Carrying the raft into and out of the river requires all boat passengers help, if you can.
  • Paddling, if you’re up for it but not always required
  • Jumping: off the boat, off rocks, bridges, cliffs
  • Swimming and getting yourself back into the boat (it’s harder than it sounds)
  • Sunshine- can be exhausting!

Tennis or Pickle Ball

Pickle Ball has gained popularity where I live. Courts are popping up all over and can get crowded. The courts are smaller than tennis courts so require less distance to hustle. The paddle and ball are kind of similar to ping pong.

Tennis and pickle ball are sports that can be enjoyed at any age! It can be expensive but definitely doesn’t have to be. Find a beginner tennis or pickle ball set on amazon here and here. Public courts are available free in many areas. Local leagues and tennis communities can easily be found online.

Once you have your basic equipment the funnest part is the cute outfits that go along with tennis, am I right?

I started with a basket of balls and an inexpensive raquet for me and my two little girls, they use smaller racquets, and spent many evenings trying out what we learned on you-tube before we ever considered paying for any lessons.

My favorite You-Tube coach is Ian on the Essential Tennis Channel. He has many simple lessons that are short but thorough.

  • Watch the lessons then try it out and video yourself.
  • Rewatch the lesson and compare the video of yourself.
  • You won’t know what you are doing wrong without a coach so you need to video or bring someone who can help you make corrections to your strokes.

This dad/coach on You-Tube has great lessons that show you how to teach your kids tennis even if you have never played yourself.

In the gym to improve at the sport:

  • Squats and lunges- power in your swing starts in your legs
  • Yoga- a lot of balance is required in this sport, there is a constant shift between one leg to the next.
  • Jump Rope- get light on your toes

Golf (Or Frisbee Golf)

Any sport that is outside in the sun and requires a cute outfit is my kind of sport. Golf, however is an expensive sport, at least in my part of the world.

Take a class for beginners at your local golf course or hop on you-tube again to learn how to master your strokes. Then practice, practice, practice. When you love and appreciate your sport it doesn’t feel like work, even if you start out really terrible at it (speaking from experience).

Frisbee golf is a great option too (And is better on the budget). You can get an starter kit, like this one, that comes with a variety of frisbees that you’d need for the game as well as a carry case to keep organized. A quick search online and you’ll find a community of frisbee golfers near you, but this doesn’t require competition to be fun and burn calories. Just you and your frisbees can enjoy this sport.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Another excuse to want to look good in a swim suit. Stand up paddle boarding can be as intense or relaxing as you want.

  • Paddle paddle boarding on a river into the wind equals hard.
  • A leisure paddle around a lake can be therapeutic.
Stand Up Paddleboard

We found the best deal for a paddle board was on amazon ( you can find it here). It comes with a backpack to keep store and carry it in but they are really heavy. It also comes with a hand pump, which takes forever to use so we got this electric pump for about $12 that fits right into your car’s outlet, making it super easy to fill the SUP when when you get to the water.

You can spend a little more and get a paddle board that comes with wheels on the carry case making it so much easier to get around, especially if you are on your own or have kids and mountains of other things to carry too.

Playground Games

Grab your kids, nephew, or cousin and get to the playground. I am a firm believer that kids don’t need adults to entertain them at the park but we can learn a lot about fitness from watching kids.

Grab a ball to kick around or one to shoot hoops, set up badminton or volleyball. When you are there to play rather than workout your body will move and use muscles you may not normally be working out. These types of low stress exercises and activities are what are body wants regularly.

Badminton/ Volleyball Combo

With regular low stress activity our body doesn’t hold onto unwanted weight so tightly like it may if we go into and out of high stress workouts. Playground sports can be HIIT workouts without feeling like a workout.

Trampoline Park

My kids love these places but as an adult it has gotten harder for me to jump on a trampoline. It doesn’t take a lot of time to really get your heart pumping.

Get into a game of trampoline dodge ball! Or get your own set of dodge balls like these foam ones.

Indoor trampoline parks have been popping up all over. Many offer aerobic classes for adults. Your inner kid will start to come out as you work out in these classes.
