Yoga for Back Pain, the Equipment that helped ease the pain

You’ve  probably been told by your doctor certain stretches and yoga poses can help ease your lower back pain but, if you’re like me, you have lots of trouble getting the relief you are after.  However, don’t give up on yoga for back pain yet!
I have found equipment that can help support and strengthen the back during your yoga practice all found on Amazon.

The Bone Pillow!

If you suffer from any kind of back pain I would run to this bone pillow.  Our posture suffers greatly from our lifestyles today.  Our heads and neck come out of alignment looking down at our phones all the time.

As you lay on this bone shaped neck pillow your body is gently guided into proper alignment.  Lay flat on the floor with this pillow in position.  Playing around with different positioning, up higher or lower on your spine can give a nice stretch.

I sleep with this pillow too.  At first I would toss it after a short period but slowly began being able to handle longer periods of time.

Pain I had for a long time that wouldn’t go away with any other treatment has vanished from using this pillow.  I also have an easier time maintaining a better posture throughout the day!

Back Support:

This thing looks strange but don’t overlook this!  This lower back brace can be used sitting in a chair or I use it with legs crossed on the ground.  It is perfect for meditation.  You’ll feel supported enough to sit for long periods of time.  I’ve even used this thing when I had to sit for hours at a track meet on hard bleachers.Yoga for back painSupportiback

 Lacrosse Ball Massage:

This set of massage balls are amazing for working out all types of back pain.  Lay on the floor and put the ball directly on the pain.  It hurts a bit but with short amounts of use regularly your pain will seem to be erased.

Posture Brace

A back posture corrector has been a huge help with my yoga practice.  I don’t wear it during my routine but do use it during meditation and all during the day.  It has helped strengthen weak muscles  pulling me into correct posture.  This has helped me keep better form while doing yoga for back pain.

Start by wearing for short amounts of time while doing not much activity, like watching tv or sitting at the dining table.  Short sessions really help you become mindful of your posture during the day.

There are tons of posture braces on to choose from on Amazon.  Some things to keep in mind when choosing yours:

  • They hug you armpits pretty tight.  Moving your arms a lot while wearing will cause rubbing.  Choose a brace that takes some of that pressure off your pits.
  • Consider bulk.  This does not need to be worn all day for benefits but if you want to wear discreetly under clothing consider color, how high it comes up on the back of your neck and bulk.
  • This doesn’t need to be worn tightly.  Having the brace to gently remind you to use your own muscles to hold your posture correctly is the goal.
